So as we were speculating to a friend tonight, is there some kind of warmly noxious contact high experienced over a propane grill that gives one the feeling of mastery, peace and pride? Rich and I both experienced this sort of feeling while supervising the grill on two separate weekend evenings. I guess there is a reason why people run out to get one as soon as they have a few feet of backyard: "Here are my four feet of grass, ho!"
Or in our case, "Here is our backyard with various soils and rocks, levels of erosion, masonary cracks and dead tree stumps, ho!"

I believe standing at the grill is like standing at a pulpit. It's rather empowering. Similar to when Mufasa and Simba stood on the cliff and Mufasa announced, "Everything the light touches will be yours." The Bean is very lucky to someday "rule" over such an intersting back yard! : )
