Found from my notes of Dec. 04. Made me nostalgic but glad we can still walk to strange urban discoveries:
Ella swoons over every cheesy Christmas display in downtown Jersey City. Even the plastic winking Santa face--no sturdier than a paper plate--on the door to the building next door. The nativity scene at Holy Rosary on Sixth Street enraptures her: "Mommy, Daddy, dogs," she recites, though the dogs are really sheep turned away from us. The nativity scene is missing a baby Jesus, so the Mary, Joseph, wise men and animals are all turned inward to a large blank spot of plastic turf.
