Today I give thanks to Sesame Street for helping my children consider the music of Feist. She made an appearance on this morning's program, and when I heard, "One, two, three, four..." in a song reconfigured to celebrate the Number Four, I was confused for a moment, like there had been a sudden, swooshing vortex between the adult and child worlds.
The vortex continued when the Bean asked, in the car, "Can you put on the Elmo song?"

Taking into account my travels with a seven year-old, her three year-old sister and the company they keep. I try to be honest while avoiding cliche. I attach and detach, but try to be present.
