Don't Go in the Basement

Starting to make some order out of this new house that, like a child, has upcoming needs and often immediate demands. It seems the main difference is that the Bean will likely not require powerwashing in the spring.

The Bean, meanwhile, is adjusting to three floors of living space (including a basement that we need to go to for laundry and unpacking purposes) from one floor of apartment living. This change has inspired several outbursts: "Don't go into the basement." Or the more heart-wrenching, "I can't hear your voice." The night owl has been used to monitoring us pretty well at night from her bedroom as she unwinds for 2 hours. Now she has to take it more on faith that we are not leaving the house and, say, walking up the block to get a beer special. Hmm. Unless baby monitors are more powerful these days...
