Fairies and French

Weekend notes:

1. The Bean: new fascination with fairies thanks to her old friend G. Spending the better part of the week finding a good garden spot for a fairy house, discussing ideas for decor, offerings and more. She runs outside each morning to see what they have left her. Hmm. I told her the fairies have very tiny pockets. (This is true.) The fairies might need to go to a craft store, even though fairies without large to-do lists really should be foraging in the woods. (See: small pockets.)

My findings: fairies might fill the pet void for a time, as the neighbor's cat has on occasion, and wondering if the whole Princess obsession is simply answering to a deeper desire to be surrounded by magic?

2. "The Red Balloon." We have been reading the book based upon the 1950s-era movie, discovered in an area thrift shop. See it! It's wonderful for its slow pace alone, though friend L. found that the bullying scene upset her son. Generally a story of friendship, loyalty and childhood.

Findings: hearing the girls run around the house calling to their balloons with a French accent, and I am charmed, though I think I should be better dressed and wearing a scarf.
