1. I realized last night while brushing my teeth that I finally have the haircut I was actually meant to have. I understand that many a woman has expressed this sentiment after a haircut, but often that feeling is euphoric and fleeting. But I really, really mean it, and I might know it is also objectively true.
Case in point: that one portrait studio photograph of my sisters and I when I was in junior high when someone suggested that I pin my bangs back. When receiving this photograph, some relatives suggested to my mother that they, in fact, missed my bangs.
It may also have had something to do with the generous amount of "Dep" Gel applied and the fact that the point of eyebrow-plucking was still completely lost on me.*
In the end, it was sometime in college that I truly grew them out, but now that is over a decade ago.
That is how I feel now: hello bangs; I've missed you.
2. Speaking of heads, is it a universal, gleeful discovery of ALL CHILDREN EVERYWHERE that underwear makes a lovely hat?
*My husband will look at these old photos and exclaim in a nasaly voice, "Hey, Bert!" Luckily as a teenager he had a mullet and a Mustang, so our humiliation of one another is pretty fairly matched.
