Sunny Monday Shout-out:
We are gardening in the yard today.
The last time I tried to garden was three years ago, when I planted my community garden plot diligently and fully, then lugged water over one block to water it. Not as often as I should have. (The garden association had a water fee to use a neighbor's hose, but on principle I felt I could lug over my own damn water.) And then when I found out I was pregnant, I watered the garden, like, never.
It was July. And really hot. And when you're newly pregnant, hot is a huge insult to your being.
Today, we are cutting roses down and fertilizing. The Bean's opinion on future plants for the front beds is based entirely on their color on the front of the seed packet. If they are blue, thumbs up. If they are purple, thumbs up after consideration. If they are any other color, I think there is some lengthy application process.

I wish I had a green thumb. It seems all my fingers are black when it comes to keeping plants alive. I will have to try The Bean's technique for choosing plants, I like the way she thinks! : )
